Costs

Costs of the program include normal Penn State tuition,* room and board costs comparable to dorm and dining hall fees at University Park (meals are the responsibility of individual students, but food costs for the semester will be comparable to the cost of a dining hall contract at University Park). There are additionally fees for the program, fieldtrips, and visa.

In 2007, beyond tuition, students going to Athens paid:

  • Program fee: $3,900 (visa extension fee, lodging, field trips--hotels, cost related to site visits)
  • Admin fee/Health Ins.: $410
  • Greek student visa fee: $100
  • Transportation to and from Greece: $850-$1000

Students will also have to budget for books and personal needs. Penn State students should also look into Financial Aid. The Eugene N. Borza Award provides financial support for one or more students each year who have been accepted into the Athens Program, so you might want to check into eligility requirements and application procedures for this award.

*Tuition for students from other CIC institutions varies from university to university. Please consult with your foreign study office for details.
